December has been a month that I haven’t handled so well in years past. The trees have lost their color, they are gray and often look like smoke hovering over the valley. It looks cold outside. You can feel how cold it is by just looking out the window. However, something is different this year and I think I know what it is.
In years past I have listened to Christmas songs. I’ve even had a favorite or two. They were songs. Traditional songs that I had been exposed to since birth. The old favorites. Silent Night. Joy to the World. Away In A Manger. What I at one time heard as songs are becoming songs I hear very differently this year. I hear songs of profound worship, not songs that I’m comfortable with or expect to hear. I’m hearing things I’ve never heard. I think I know what it is.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
