Today the Glen Alice Christian Church has began a 40 day prayer journey together as a family. There has been lots of preparation and planning for the journey to begin.
The Map that will be used during the course of this journey will be posted on the GACC Facebook page for any of you that may decide to join us.
Every journey begins somewhere and every journey has a destination. The destination of this journey is not so much a place, but rather two people. The first person is the person of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The second person is you. In John 14:6, Jesus plainly stated that He is the way (the path) the truth (the only reliable guide) and life (the identity and essence of our existence). Your life, real life, isn’t found anywhere else. Life is found in a person, not a set of circumstances or feelings. If the things you value aren’t the things Jesus values, you are pursuing things that divert you from finding real life. If Jesus claim is true, that makes this journey, what we pursue, the most important journey that any human can ever begin.
Why 40 days of prayer? James 2:14-26 makes it clear, “Faith without works is dead.” Prayer is not the only act of faith, but prayer is an act of faith. Seeking God through prayer is faith in action. Enter this season of prayer with faith that God will reward us (Hebrews 11:6).
Over the next 40 days we will all be engaged in seeking God, together. It requires individual participation but it strengthens our community, our families and our church family.
You will need your Bible to help you along this journey.
You may find it helpful to make notes in this guide or to keep a journal/diary of your prayers.
Call other members of our church family and discuss your journey. This is what we are supposed to do (Deuteronomy 11:16-21).
